I know I’ve been asking a lot of questions about nutrition lately!
I’m trying to eat healthier. I’ve been having 1/2 cup oatmeal with one cup skim milk and 1/4 cup raisins.
I really like Kefir. Is it healthy?
Do you think oatmeal can be made with Kefir instead?
Or is that just to weird of a combination?

Heating kefir will kill the healthy bacteria and yeast contained within.
It will still retain the vitamins and goodies that those organisms produced while it brewed though, but most of the benefit will be gone.
If you really like kefir, you should try brewing it yourself at home it is REALLY REALLY EASY!
You take the cultures and put them in a glass, cover with milk and wait a night, then fish out the cultures (all utensils should be plastic and not metal) and DRINK.
After a few days of complaining (gas, bloating) your gut will thank you.
Hunt around online for fresh cultures. Join a Yahoo! group. Many people who are into it will practically give them away if you ask.
