Fitness Tips

The only way to keep up with the latest about yoga training is to constantly stay on the lookout for new information. If you read everything you find about yoga training, it won’t take long for you to become an influential authority.

It may be taxing to talk about yoga in this century. This ancient art is based on age-old wisdom and philosophy, and yet globalization has diminished its real purpose and meaning. In an attempt to make things easier, people have reduced a whole philosophy into one simple concept. Yoga in its true form may be a little complicated for the western world to understand. It can be disastrous to assume a fake understanding of such a complicated subject and spreading it as the absolute truth. Unfortunately, the western world seems to place the physical aspects of yoga as the main focus. There is more to yoga than the mere attainment of inner balance and serenity.

Martial Arts Fitness

It is one of the six schools of Hindu thoughts has roots deep within the pages of the Hindu Holy Scriptures. In India, yoga is considered a very spiritual experience that has a physical aspect to it. Most westerners would describe yoga as a physical practice. The strange symbols related to the yoga practice have created some awareness among the westerners that there is more to yoga than the physical aspects, but they are often misunderstood. It became a popular sport in the west. Additionally, people who desire inner tranquility would often find this practice to be beneficial. Nevertheless many have been attracted to yoga as a form of practice to achieve inner peace and balance.

Most of this information comes straight from the yoga training pros. Careful reading to the end virtually guarantees that you’ll know what they know.

Fitness and Martial Arts

Disciples of yoga are often fascinated by the claims made by their yoga instructors. The numerous amount of fatal errors found in the practice of yoga outside of India shows that this art has been widely misunderstood at large. Different groups practicing yoga have its own cultural structure and these influences are responsible for those fatal errors detected in the practice of this ancient art. The western busy lifestyles certainly do not provide much space to contemplate on this philosophy. For instance, meditation is the crux of this philosophy but busy Americans do not possess the time to spend in a few hours of relative sessions every day. The Hindus have a different set of value system that is very different from the west, and places low importance in the mere accumulation of physical wealth. It is impossible to attain true wisdom that is aligned with the real philosophy of yoga in this state of mind. One needs to possess both time and patience to fully reap the rewards of a successful meditative session. This is what the westerners lack. The west seems cursed with the obsession to pursue the goal of building better lives in the form of lavish lifestyles and not in the philosophical way.

Yoga has been accepted as a fashion There is a lot of information going out promoting yoga as a form of sports; in fact you can grab any of those and start practicing yoga anywhere you want to. Even the famous people who are fake yoga gurus have garnered a lot of support from their disciples. The growing influence of this unhealthy philosophy is attributed to the disciples who are loyal in spreading the word about the advantages of adopting this crooked form of yogic philosophy.

Hopefully the sections above have contributed to your understanding of yoga training. Share your new understanding about yoga training with others. They’ll thank you for it.

I heard this story told by <a title="Dr John Demartini - Read more on SeanRasmussen.com” href=”http://www.seanrasmussen.com/category/john-demartini” target=”_blank”>Dr John Demartini. It has a strong message and I found great motivation in it.

Three old wise men walked up to a house and knocked on the door. A lady opened the door and discovered the three men standing there, all with long white beards. The first wise man introduced himself and his 2 friends as Success, Wealth and Love. He asked politely: “Is your husband home?“

“Sorry“, she answered. “He will be home late tonight“

The 3 wise men asked if it was OK to wait until he got home as they had an important message for him. She approved and walked back inside.

Later that night, the husband arrived home. He noticed the 3 men at the back of the house, waiting patiently. When asking his wife who they were and what they wanted, she responded:

“They are 3 wise men and they have an important message for you“

“Well“, he said. “Invite them inside!“

She walked outside and invited them inside but they said she could only invite one in at a time. She returned to her husband and he immeditely replied: “Invite Wealth. We need more wealth around here!“

The wife responded: “I think we need more Success. Let’s invite him inside“

Their teenage daughter appeared and added: “We need more Love in this family! Let’s invite love inside“

Both the husband and wife agreed and decided to invite Love inside. The wife walked back outside and invited Love. Love proceeded to walk inside followed by Wealth and Success. Once inside, the family were a bit puzzled. Why had they all come inside when they were instructed that only one could come in at a time?

When asked this question, the wise old man named Love said:

“Had you asked for Wealth or Success, only the one you requested would walk in and that is all you get. Wherever Love goes, Wealth and Success follows“

Love = Wealth and Success

The moral of this story is apparent. Love is an emotion and it’s even much more than that. It is the most powerful force in the universe. Love can not be destroyed by anyone but the being that holds it in their heart. Live a life of Love and you will be passionate about everything you do. <a title="Wealth articles on SeanRasmussen.com” href=”http://www.seanrasmussen.com/category/wealth/” target=”_blank”>Wealth and <a title="Success articles on Sean Rasmussen.com” href=”http://www.seanrasmussen.com/category/success/” target=”_blank”>Success are a byproduct of Love. It is a reward for your <a title="Gratitude articles on SeanRasmussen.com” href=”http://www.seanrasmussen.com/category/gratitude/” target=”_blank”>gratitude in life.

Love is much more than a “Hollywood” stereotype of mushy feelings between 2 people. Love is empowering. It is something you feel for someone or something that goes so deep, you cannot explain the origins of it. You can have it for a child, an animal, a lifestyle, a cause, a passion… Gratitude is a product of love or even a precursor for love. Either way. it’s a good place to be.

Have a most outstanding day!

Trouble sleeping? Sleep Deprived? Fell unrested when you wake up from not getting enough sleep? Sleep depravation is a common problem around the world. Lack of sleep is common in adults and children, men and women. There is no age limit.

In order to get to sleep and get better sleep, there is quite a ‘large’ list of common practices and activities that you would want to avoid in order to allow your body to rest and fall asleep more naturally.

Sleep Better & Fall Asleep Faster By Avoiding These:

Sleep is crucial to our well being, not to mention our sanity. Lack of sleep over consecutive days can cause irritability, stress, negative thing, irrational thoughts and many other issues. These seem to increase the longer the lack of quality sleep occurs.

Here is a huge list of different things that you may or may not know that will affect your ability to sleep in a negative way. Some of these may or may not affect you in this regard, as every individual is different and is affected by different levels of sensitivity.

Here’s an obvious one:

Coffee: Coffee or any other caffeine induced drink is not some thing you want to drink after supper time if you want to be able to unwind and get your body to fall into a natural sleep on its own.

Chocolate: is another one you want stay away from as it too is astimulant and actually can help to keep you awake at night when you should be sleeping.

*Any drink, or food with caffeine in it will act as a stimulant to your body or mind. Read the label or know the ingredients.

Exercising Late at Night: Ok, so we all want to look great and stay in shape but, if you are exercising too late at night you actually are ’stimulating’ your body and releasing adrenaline which can keep you buzzing for hours. Its great to want to exercise, but exercising anytime after 7pm can cause your body to stay energized and create difficulty in the body’s natural prgression towards sleep.

Your efforts would best be served keeping active during the day. Exercising, working in the yard, doing house work etc. will work wonders to get you tired and sleeping better at night when you should be sleeping!

Staying up too Late: Staying up too late at night and fighting your bodies feelings of tiredness will mess up your bodies routine. If you go to bed at a normal, reasonable time every night will get your body into a normal sleeping routine in no time!

Watching TV Late At Night: My wife has told me this for a long time. If you watch television for too long or too late at night it can actualy stimulate your mind and make it difficult to fall asleep again. The smae goes for the computer. Yes, If you are like me you want to check your email but then this leads to something else and something else, before you know it, you are wide awake and you have just ’slapped’ your mind wide awake again. Often times, you will then get thinking on different mattrers or things that you need to do and this keeps your mind spinning all night! Not Good!

Sleeping in Too Late: If you do sleep, if you are sleeping in too late in the morning or during the day, you will make your body less tired at night as you are throwing your body out of its regular routine. Try to set a normal pattern of going to bed and waking up at the same time-this will definitely help!

Eating Too Close To Bedtime: Eating too close to your bedtime can ‘fire up’ your body’s food burning efforts and again, keep you awake. If you eat large meals, not only are you uncomfortable because of eating too much, but you now have your body working over time to get this digested. *This has been the cause of many a sleepless night for me!

Are you being overrun with pimples and zits? Hopefully not, but if you are then lets look at some alternatives to expensive medications and treatments.

To begin with, “what is acne?” Acne is a skin disorder that comes from oils in your pores that comes from your hormones interacting with your skin’s sebaceous glands. The oils gather in a pore and lead to congestion of the pore when not properly cleaned. This is when the acne starts forming. If left along, it obviously becomes a pimple. While it is most noticeable to have acne on your face, you may get acne on your back, neck, chest, scalp, back, and shoulders. When severe acne is left untreated, it can lead to other issues like scarring and sometimes psychological problems such as depression. It is much better to deal with your acne today before it escalates to severe.

Acne is often linked to your genetics which there isn’t going to be anything you can do about that. However, acne is also attributed to hygiene. This isn’t to say that you never shower or you play in the dirt all day long. It just means that you have a situation where your skin accumulates oil and possibly dirt which contributes to acne breakouts. Using the natural solutions below, you will be able to address the hygiene issues.

1. Get your recommended daily allowance of fruits and vegetables to balance your body’s chemistry and you’ll be surprised at the how well you feel afterward.

2. Try cleaning your face with Rose Water twice a day to keep your face clear of oils and feeling refreshed.

3. Don’t give up when you see a pimple forming. Take control and take action before it is too late. Try patting ice on the swollen location to reduce the swelling and additionally help with the release of the trapped oils in the pores.

4. Take your vitamins just like your mother always told you. Taking your vitamins will help maintain your body’s chemical balance or correct chemical imbalances. Start with a multivitamin that contains a zinc supplement because it helps to make your skin stronger and builds resistance to acne.

5. Cucumbers - Only this time they aren’t to eat. Create a cucumber paste by combining a cucumber with water to make a facial mask. Put it on for about half an hour and rinse off. This is affordable and helps control acne at the same time that it refreshes your skin.

6. Use gentle, mild soaps on your skin. I know it is tempting to use soaps that dry out your skin but then you are just going from one problem to another. Avoid using petroleum based as well as animal based soaps because they will irritate and dry out your skin.

7. Avoid using alcohol based products on your skin, especially your face, because they will dry out your face. Alcohol free is becoming much easier to find these days because alcohol products are so harsh to your skin.

8. Pick and choose your makeup carefully because many contain petroleum products and will dry you skin out which isn’t necessarily what you want. You want to keep your skin clean and fresh not dry and flaky.

9. Water - This is perhaps the most important element of all. Drinking at least the recommend allowance of water per day if not more will help keep your body hydrated and tends to flush dirt out of our bodies.

Use the list above and really try it. Always start with the easiest solutions before trying to move into the expensive and invasive treatments. And note that not all illnesses need to be cured with harsh medicines and chemicals, your body will thank you in the long run.

For most people, the Chinese green tea is a stuff of legends. Chinese green tea has been known to be very beneficial to human health. For thousands of years, Chinese green tea has been talked about and written about because of its countless positive effects.

According to legend, the first person to ever taste Chinese green tea was the Emperor Shen Nung in 2737 B.C. It was said that while boiling some water for drinking, some leaves fell into his pot from a tree nearby. Chinese green tea leaves when boiled smelled and tasted so wonderful that Shen Nung even urged his people to drink it. The fame of the Chinese green tea did not stay at one place for long. It is believed that in A.D. 800, Chinese green tea was brought to Japan by monks who studied Buddhism in China.

What makes Chinese green tea different from all other teas?

Chinese green tea is produced from Camellia sinensis, the same plant where the oolong and black tea are derived. Yet, even though they all come from the same herb, the Chinese green tea truly stands out as an exceptional health drink. So what makes Chinese green tea different?

The difference lies in the method by which Chinese green tea is produced. Oolong and black tea leaves are traditionally oxidized and then dried while the Chinese green tea leaves are steamed and then dried. This method of producing Chinese green tea actually preserves most of the beneficial antioxidants present in it.

Chinese Green Tea for Health

While it is already common knowledge that Chinese green tea has several health benefits, modern scientists were able to provide several concrete proofs of the positive effects of Chinese green tea. Chinese green tea antioxidants are said to be the ones responsible for making the Chinese green tea very beneficial.

Recent findings show that the antioxidants in Chinese green tea can reduce cholesterol levels in a person; can improve how blood vessels function; and can reduce blood lipids. It was also discovered that Chinese green tea can have an anti-inflammatory effects and may provide protection against cardiovascular diseases.

Chinese Green Tea for Weight Loss

Significant findings were made that pointed to the benefits of Chinese green tea in weight loss. According to the researchers of the University of Geneva, Chinese green tea has thermogenic properties which aid much in weight loss. In their study, they investigated the weight loss benefits of Chinese green tea by observing the interaction between the caffeine in Chinese green tea and a compound called epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). When these two substances in Chinese green tea react, thermogenesis of the body increases by four percent. The tendency of Chinese green tea to enhance metabolic rates has given people reason to believe that Chinese green tea has weight loss benefits as well.

Another study concerning the weight loss benefits of Chinese green tea was also conducted. The results of the research showed that Chinese green tea drinkers have a better propensity for weight loss. Drinking Chinese green tea allows the body to burn an additional 70 calories a day, a feat that weight loss enthusiasts would relish.

Today, Chinese green tea is widely available as a beverage and as an ingredient for weight loss products.

Everybody (or almost everybody) will suffer from back pain sooner or later. Many things can cause back pain. The most common cause is simple muscle strain. We will just bend over wrong or twist our bodies in an unusual way and, whamo, back pain!

Of course, back pain can be caused by a whole host of things. But almost all back pain is considered “minor” to the medical community — never to the one who is suffering.

Back pain usually starts quickly and ends slowly. It’s just the nature of the beast. The sudden pain will take a death grip on the back but as the pain subsides it does so slowly. Back pain never leaves at the same speed with which it arrives. It hardly seems fair, but there you have it.

At the beginning, a muscle strain that produces back pain will roar in like a lion. The pain is acute and severe. The first thing the sufferer usually does is grab the aspirin or the Tylenol and swallow a couple of tablets. He may reach for an analgesic rub to help relieve pain.

As the muscle strain begins to heal itself (and it WILL heal itself almost every time), you can use less and less aspirin or Tylenol and less and less analgesic rub. But you now need to be doing some things that will help to prevent a recurrence of the situation.

Back muscles need to be strengthened as soon as the back pain subsides enough to allow it. Simply walking will help to strengthen back muscles but you can find many instructions on the Internet for exercises that will help to strengthen back muscles. Never use any that cause more pain. Water aerobics is one of the best exercises available for strengthening back muscles once the back pain has subsided.

When it comes to protein intake, minutes can make the difference.

A Danish study demonstrated that men who drank a high quality protein supplement 2 hours after a weight training session had no increase in muscle mass after the 12-week program. In contrast, men who drank their protein supplement within minutes of the training session had an increase in thigh muscle mass.

This study gives credence to the belief that ingesting a high quality protein soon after a weight training session helps one to maximize his/her weight training efforts.

If you want to boost muscle mass, try one of GNLD’s many protein products right after exercise!

The more work you put into something, the better results you will achieve. This has always been a widely accepted truth that applies to most areas in life.

The harder you study, the better grades you will achieve. The more time you spend fine-tuning your athletic skills, the better athlete you will become. The longer you spend learning to play an instrument, the better musician you will become.

Therefore, it only makes sense that the more time you spend in the gym, the stronger and more muscular your physique will become, correct?

Contrary to what you might think, the answer to this question is a gigantic, definite, absolute no! It is in this area of bodybuilding that conventional wisdom goes straight out the window, down the street and around the corner.

I know what you might be asking yourself…

“What? Spending less time in the gym will actually make me bigger and stronger?”

The answer is yes! It really will, and when we examine the muscle-growth process from its most basic roots, it becomes quite clear why this is the case.

Every single process that occurs within the human body is centered around keeping you alive and healthy. Through thousands of years of evolution the human body has become quite a fine-tuned organism that can adapt well to the specific conditions that are placed upon it.

We become uncomfortable when we are hungry or thirsty, we acquire a suntan when high amounts of UV rays are present, we build calluses to protect our skin, etc.

So what happens when we break down muscle tissue in the gym?

If you answered something to the effect of “the muscles get bigger and stronger”, then congratulations! You are absolutely correct. By battling against resistance beyond the muscle’s present capacity we have posed a threat to the musculature. The body recognizes this as potentially harmful and as a natural adaptive response the muscles will hypertrophy (increase in size) to protect the body against this threat. As we consistently increase the workload from week to week the body will continue to adapt and grow.

Sound simple?

Ultimately it is, but the most important thing to realize in relation to all of this is that the muscles can only grow bigger and stronger if they are provided with sufficient recovery time. Without the proper recovery time, the muscle growth process simply cannot take place.

Your goal in the gym should be to train with the minimum amount of volume needed to yield an adaptive response. Once you have pushed your muscles beyond their present capacity and have triggered your thousand-year-old evolutionary alarm system, you have done your job. Any further stress to the body will simply increase your recovery time.

Most people train way too often and with far more sets than they really need to. High intensity weight training is much more stressful to the body than most people think. The majority of people structure their workout programs in a manner that actually hinders their gains and prevents them from making the progress that they deserve.

Here are 3 basic guidelines that you should follow if you want to achieve maximum gains:

1) Train no more than 3 days per week.
2) Do not let your workouts last for longer then 1 hour.
3) Perform 5-7 sets for large muscle groups (chest, back, thighs) and 2-4 sets for smaller muscle groups (shoulders, biceps, triceps, calves, abs).

Take all sets to the point of muscular failure and focus on progressing in either weight or reps each week. If you truly train hard and are consistent, training more often or any longer than this will be counterproductive to your gains.

Here are ten steps that you can follow to lose weight, keep it off, and explode your energy levels.

1. Eat in a calm and relaxed atmosphere. Be very thankful for the food you are given to eat. In most cases something that was living was sacrificed so you could eat. Taste and enjoy every bite you take.

2. Don’t over-eat. Only eat until you are 80% full. You will notice that about ten minutes later you will feel full.

There is a slight time delay between eating the food and your body registering itself as full. That is usually why you feel tired weighted down after eating everything on your plate at a restaurant.

Your brain and taste buds are satisfied, but your body has to pay the price. Once you get used to this you should also see an increase in energy levels because the body is getting the right amount of food.

3. Chew all of your food thoroughly. You also should limit how much you chew gum, it stimulates your digestive juices unnecessarily.

4. Drink at least 8 cups of purified water every day. You should drink water between meals only. I know it may seem crazy that I have to mention this, but: soda, juice, and coffee are not water.

I have had many of my clients tell me that they don’t need water because the drinks I just listed usually have water within the ingredients. Every time I respond, “are you kidding me!”

5. Do not consume large amounts of liquid right before, during, or after any meal. This diluted your digestive juices. That also goes for frozen drinks with meals because they freeze digestive enzyme cells, which interrupts the digestive process.

6. Do not eat fruit and meat together. This can give you an upset stomach.

7. Allow your digestive system some rest time. This means that you should try not to eat within at least two hours of your bedtime. Your body requires a fasting period (not eating) of usually ten to twelve hours in order to cleanse and rejuvenate itself properly. Try it, you will wake up with more energy.

8. Include raw(uncooked) vegetables with each meal, that way you provide your body with enzymes that break down the food particles you eat.

9. Please choose healthy food choices. The above recommendations will do little to no good if you eat a lot of fast food, and other junk food. Remember you are as healthy as what you put into your body.

10. Eat spicy! It helps cleanse the body and it increases your metabolism. Pay attention next time you eat something spicy, as long as you don’t eat too much food, you should feel a lot of energy afterward.

I am not asking you to burn your tongue off or go into convulsions, but you should eat as much spicy food as you can tolerate. If it does get to hot, drink milk or something creamy, not water. Water makes the burn worse.

I have followed these healthy eating habits for the past two years and have been able to lose weight, keep it off, my energy levels have sky-rocketed (now I want to exercise every day instead of forcing myself), and my mind is clearer. Follow these same rules and you should see the same results!

Mass is no mystery. Attaining it is quite simple and straightforward. All you have to do is bust your gut and apply the following 10 basic rules.

1. Use Free Weights for all Heavy Sets

As heavy as some machines might feel, they do not involve as much of the ancillary muscles areas as do free weights and, therefore, do not build as much compound mass.

2. Utilize Compound Movements

How you perform an exercise is perhaps the most important dynamic in building mass. If you want full, hard bulk, do not isolate. Instead, use what Dave Draper calls ‘body thrust’ to compound the involvement of all the muscles in the area. Also, don’t fall for the theory that cheating robs you of separation. On the contrary, it augments the compound benefit and builds even greater size so that there’s more muscle in which to carve separations.

3. Find Areas Of Improvement

Assess your physique to determine which muscle groups need to be brought up in size, then go to the gym with that in mind, concentrating on working those areas first. Begin your workout with a barbell movement and follow with dumbbells. If you use cables, do so at the end of your workout. Never count cable sets as muss building sets.

4. Experiment To Find Your Best Mass Building Exercises

I used to perform lots of squats, and I became incredibly strong with them, going as high as 40 reps with 315 pounds. But there came a point where, even at that level of intensity, my legs weren’t growing to my satisfaction. I discovered that my lower back and hips were taking too much of the stress; the solution lay in working my quads more exclusively. I therefore stopped squatting and switched to leg presses and hack squats instead. My legs are now better than ever.

5. Avoid Injuries

Be wary of dangerous exercises. Squats and flat bench presses, for example, possess the highest injury potential, so I stay away from them. I can’t count the number of individuals whose bodybuilding careers were ended by torn pecs, slipped discs or strained erectors. With proper knowledge and execution, you can get commensurate or even better growth from exercises that work those muscle groups thoroughly without placing undue stress on tendons and ligaments.

6. Utilize Optimum Sets

Use a range of 16 - 20 total sets per bodypart.

7. Don’t Count Exercises

There is no optimum number of exercises. Most bodybuilders prescribe four sets each of four or five different exercises per bodypart, but for some muscle groups, there might be only one or two movements that work them effectively. In those cases, you should do 16 - 20 sets of one exercise, or 8 - 10 sets each of two exercises.

8. Perform Optimum Reps

I like to train heavy, but I also like to use lots of reps. I recently performed incline barbell curls with 405 pounds for 10 reps, but I consider that to be medium to light weight, and, therefore, not mass training. My favorite number of mass reps on a regular basis is 10, to failure, of course. However, that doesn’t mean you should avoid going as heavy as possible now and then.

9. Flirt With Maximums

Check out your strength levels every so often by maxing out with one or two reps. Remembers, though, that any time you play around with benchpress poundages above 405, you flirt with danger. The body cannot consistently take that type of training. When you want to test your max, do not take big jumps. Rather, work up gradually to keep your body accustomed to the changing forces and their deflections at each level. For example, I go up to 500 pounds for two reps on the incline barbell press, but I do not jump directly from 405 to 500. Instead, I make sure I can do 465 for at least four reps before I go to my max.

10. Eat Your Meat

The more protein you eat, the better, and the best form of protein for mass is meat, especially red meat. That’s where you get your muscle building nutrients, your strength reserves and the necessary fats for joint protection. Make all of these tenets second nature to your bodybuilding lifestyle and you will gain good solid mass.
