What’s the point of a health care bill if you have to keep making compromises?

This morning the news said that the Dems did what they had to in order to pass Obama’s health care bill. Every place its been so far, they have to keep making concessions… so why even bother?
By the time they get done, there won’t even be a bill..

There are still no provisions in the bill to fix anything or save us any money. So the bill is crap in my opinion and not worth the 2000+ pages it’s printed on.

I tend to agree with you, except that there will be a bill forcing everyone to buy private, unregulated health insurance with no medicare or government option, or else pay a $750/yr fine for not doing so.

Because they’ll still get the tax hikes.

The health care bill is an attempt at controlling the American people’s money. If you control the money, you control the people.

because it will save millions of peoples lives

I’ve wondered the same thing. It definitely seems to me that some of the original objectives have been abandoned along the way. I can say from experience that any new regulatory system always has unintended consequences, and the more complicated it is the worse this will be. Maybe people who didn’t have coverage will have under the new approach, but I suspect cost savings are out the window and even many supporters of the original concept have long since thrown up their hands in disgust over the silliness in Congress.

Thank goodness we Canadians have a plan that, for all it’s minor faults, provides effective universal care at a much lower per user price than the US approach ever will.

Let’s hope this bill gets “compromised” out of existence!
