Mangos are in the same group, acidic wise, as lemons apples and pineapples.
they may be acidic but in the boy they alkalize.
I think the best smoothie to try is with bananas and spinach you can hardly taste the spinach.
I didn’t want to try them at first but now I have at least two large ones a day.

What kind of problems? Mangoes are alkaline forming, so are other acid fruits such as lemons, oranges, pineapple, etc. Cranberries, prunes, plums, green bananas (unripe), and blueberries are acid forming. That’s not to say avoid them, just maintain a proper balance.

You said that this drink is alkalizing. Isn’t mango acidic? I’ve had problems with acidic fruits in the past but if I’m going more raw will that make the difference? Thanks for all the great videos! <3

I think Karen is a cute little smoothie!

My green smoothie is: Handful of spinach, 1 turnip, 1 onion, 1 clove of garlic, 1 cup water and a dash of cinnamon. :)

Honestly, you have to move beyond the colour and try it – I promise you will barely taste the spinach and you’ll be amazed how much you love it!

    She does look healthy ;-)

I love smoothies, the taste good and are good for you. I don’t think I’ld like the spinage though :S I prefer fruits over vegetables in my smoothies.

  11. karenknowler says:

    Very fine : )

I’m glad you said that because I prefer to just guesstimate the quantities of ingredients that I use in my smoothies…The blender that I’m currently using is a small one and I tend to make a full jug and drink it all, about 3 big glassfuls in all…Is that ok to do?…I’m usually hungry whenever I drink my smoothies as I treat them as a meal.

  13. karenknowler says:

As it is all food, it doesn’t matter on proportions, although 50/50 is a good start. What matters is that you like the taste and therefore drink it, and the more green, the better. Garlic… you’re getting more into soup territory with that really – NOT great with fruit : )

  14. fishandfestival says:

Thanks Karen…Is there a certain amount I should or should not use, or can I just use any amount in proportion to the other greens?…Also, I never see garlic being used in smoothies…Is that a no no?

  15. karenknowler says:

    Yes absolutely. It’s *lovely*!

  16. fishandfestival says:

Can I use parsley or cilantro in my green smoothie?

  17. atcas5 says:

the taste is much improved by adding an avacado and a little stevia

  18. mailily says:

Lol. Good luck! I’m going to try one, too.

Great video. Have you incorporated Kale into your smoothies?
I splurged and picked up the Vita Mix 5200 Professional series a few weeks ago and have been making green smoothies non-stop. I’ve been playing around with a few different greens combinations and right now my favorite is a Kale, Spinach, Carrot and apple mixture. Tastes delicious. The carrot really does a great job at offsetting the bitterness of the kale.

  22. karenknowler says:

It’s real enough : ) But meet you back here tomorrow and tell me I’m wrong!!

  23. bluesugarmonkeys says:

The smile at the end doesnt look convincing. These things will be the ultimate in healthy food but surely they taste abysmal. We’ll see!….I’m going to try one tomorrow.

So THAT’S how to chop up a mango quickly!!! I have been butchering mine for years!
