individually slicing flakes of chocolate with an apple peeler!?? get a cheese grater and grate the chocolate over the pudding, saves picking them up one by one off the chopping board too, lol.
Oh, and btw….the ‘spider’ is just a small bit of liquid chocolate that broke free and floats away in the blender. It’s at 1:48.

The inclusion of the chili powder is also Mexican in origin since Mexican chocolate is used to make their famous Mole sauce, which is served with mild chilis, or poblanos. The recipe is not Mexican, it’s based on using traditional Mexican Chocolate.
He seems to be using the term ‘Mexican’ to denote the spices used, kind of like ‘Mexican’ hot chocolate. No one that I know of actually thinks this dish is authentically Mexican in origin.
