Dr. Samadi weighs in on the House health care bill. He believes if the bill gives healthcare access to millions of patients that didn’t have it before, then it’s good. Doctors want to practice preventive medicine and take good care of patients. His only issue is that it may affect quality of care. If patient workload increases, without adding new doctors, there will be longer waits for appointments and medication. He believes the US still has the best healthcare system in the world, with the best research and technology. An extra layer of bureaucracy might divide patients and doctors. He also hopes the bill doesn’t add to medical tourism whereby patients leave the country to get healthcare because it would have a devastating effect.
