Healthy Cooking Recipes – Diet Friendly Foods!

As much as people wanted to consume food whenever they want to, gaining weight is a big consideration. This is why numerous food recipes have flagged the market, all purporting to be healthy and diet-friendly. However, not all these foods are actually good for the body. Some contain high caloric value even though they appear to be full of nourishment. The person is left then to decide which the real deal is.

To guide the health-conscious people out there, here are healthy cooking recipes that contain diet friendly foods:

Grilled Brocolli

To prepare, mix lemon juice, oil, a little salt and pepper and pour the mixture over the broccoli. Wait for 30 minutes before placing it in the grill. Brush the grill first with cooking spray. Place the broccoli inside a plastic bag, add some cheese and shake vigorously, ensuring that the broccolis are well-covered. Grill the broccoli over medium heat.

Stir-Fried Thai Chicken

Although chicken contains fat, one can still devour it when the part is carefully chosen. Pick the thigh part since this contains less fat. In high heat, put oil in the pan. One by one, add garlic, ginger, and the chicken. Stir well. After the chicken is a bit cooked, add the onion, red and green pepper, ginger, and sugar to taste. Stir until cooked. Finally, add the oyster sauce and peanuts. Mix well.

It is important to note that not all greens and beans are ready for everyday consumption. Some are high in protein and salt content which may prove dangerous if taken in large servings. Moderation is the key here. Thus, it is perfectly fine to eat meat and sweets once in a while. Dieting, after all, does not just rely on the amount of food eaten but on the quality as well.

Weight Watchers friendly Recipes?

Does anyone have some YUMMY recipes that are low calorie, low fat high in fiber?
I have looked on the site and found a few things but theres so many and no ratings (suggestion to WW to add a rating button!)
I don’t need the point value as I am a weight watchers Member, just looking for ideas.
It would be for my husband and I.
I don’t care for foods that are 90% veggies
I like cheese, pasta, chicken, turkey…
I want to start cooking healthy so if I get even one recipe, that would be a huge plus!
If you’ve had it before: could you rate it on a scale 1-5, 5 being the best.
Thank you for your time.
sounds interesting petluver.

I love black beans and brownies!

Healthy Quick kid friendly recipes?

I have a 6 year old daughter, who doesn’t eat chicken (yeah, I know), cheese, anything green except for green beans, lettuce, cukes (are they considered a green veg?) and peas. I have started a PhD program and find myself making her fishsticks, hot dogs, tater tots, etc. I make myself feel better by serving a side of salad or green beans. Are there companies that sell these types of food that are healthier, possibly organic. I just don’t have the time to cook the way I used to, work and do this coursework. I really need food I can just pop in the oven and serve her. But the food I am serving her is full of sodium, preservatives and other things I have no idea what they need to be in chicken nuggets for. Not to be judgemental, I don’t mind health food, but I don’t want boca nuggets, etc. I used to spend a lot of time preparing food she would like but is healthy.

“Welcome to your friendly new health care bill”

“Medicare Advantage beneficiaries in my state like the health care they have right now. And it’s simply not true that if you like your health care you get to keep it. It’s false. This bill takes health care benefits away from seniors who are on Medicare Advantage. That is the truth. It may be an inconvenient truth for our colleagues who like to stress what they think is good about the bill, but conveniently ignore things that are going to hurt their constituents, and certainly going to hurt my constituents.” – US Senate Republican Whip Jon Kyl speaking on the Senate floor about the problems with the Democrats’ disastrous government-run health care plan that is now law — and what it will really mean for Americans. March 24, 2010.

Diabetic Friendly Zucchini Quiche For Brunch Or A Light Lunch

The next time you want a light lunch with friends or perhaps you are hosting a brunch, make this recipe for a tasty Alabama Zucchini Quiche. This is a good dish for diabetics as well as others since it only has 102 calories, 7 grams of carbs and 9 grams protein per wedge or serving. Serve this light refreshing quiche with a salad and you have a meal. Delicious, healthy, and easy; try it soon! Want dessert? Keep it light, too. A scoop of no-sugar-added ice cream with a spoonful of fresh berries would be a good choice.

ALABAMA ZUCCHINI QUICHE

1 tsp cornstarch

1/4 tsp oregano

1 cup canned stewed tomatoes

1 1/2 cups low-fat milk

4 eggs (or 1 cup egg substitute)

1 tbsp all-purpose flour

2 cups shredded zucchini

1/4 cup chopped onion

1/2 cup shredded Swiss cheese

1/2 cup shredded American cheese

2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese

Nonstick cooking oil spray

In a small saucepan, combine the cornstarch and oregano. Add the tomatoes, stirring well, and bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat; simmer 2 minutes or until thickened. Keep warm.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the milk, eggs, and flour; beat well using a wire whisk. Stir in the zucchini, onion and all the cheeses. Stir well to be sure mixture is well blended.

Pour the egg mixture into a 9-inch round quiche dish or deep dish pie plate that has been coated with the nonstick cooking spray. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Remove from oven, spoon the tomato mixture over the quiche. Cut into nine wedges and serve warm.

Enjoy!
