I am planning to write a novel which follows the lives of a number of up and coming tennis stars as they make the transition from the junior circuit to the fiercely competitive professional tour. One think brings each of these teens together, their love of tennis, their passion to be the best. Train, match, sleep, train would seem to be the formula for success but these teens aren’t immune to the effects of love, heartbreak and friendship throughout their lives, drama is never far away both on and off the court as each star struggles to live up to their hype, the pressure impose upon them, and the constant scrutiny of the media and general public.
Character 1: MAJOR

16 years old, female and has been playing tennis since age 5, only child of English decent, always been wealthy, always had the best. On court she is almost perfect in the way she plays but is extremely mentally weak and therefore struggles to win competitions, always runner up. Bubbly, playful, flirty, creative and cheeky. Very bad temper on and off court and is prone to smashing her rackets. When fighting with friends instead of getting angry she cries. Very independent and hates to think of herself as having to rely on others. Has always grown up without her parents who are almost always working. Plays for Australia, sixth junior in the world. Has very high standards of herself, trains hard, is very healthy and competitive. When she gives advice she expects it to be taken. Neither an optimist nor a pessimist, very energetic. Her mental weakness is preventing her from playing seniors (her coach thinks bad losses could make her even more mentally fragile.)
Character 2: Minor
17 yo, female, English, been playing all her life, not the most naturally talented player but makes up for it by being ultra competitive and healthy. Very strict and disciplined with almost everything. Tennis is her life, she lives and breathes it. All she wants to do is make her country and her family proud. Always the first up and the first in bed. Optimistic, the “rock” for those around her, a calming presence to everyone, warm and kind. Struggling to make the transition from the juniors to the professionals. Short and stocky, small grey eyes, pale skin, freckles, mousy brown hair, small lips.
Character 3: Minor
17, female, French, lazy but a natural tennis player. She indulges in chocolate, fast food and alcohol, never works out but is lucky enough to be very naturally talented. Quite arrogant, pessimistic, brutally honest and sarcastic. Family tries to get her to become more committed but she refuses to listen. Is making the juniors to professionals transition rather easily, doesn’t have to work for anything, it all comes easily. Likes to tease and mock those around her. Has goals other than tennis, sure she’d like to do well but she really just wants to be a stay at home mum, doing the whole tennis “thing” because her parents want her to. Tall, thin, light brown hair with blonde highlights, fish-like blue eyes and plump pink lips, very pin up girl looking.
Character 4: MAJOR
Male, 17 years old, Australian of Czech decent., very competitive, cold, harsh arrogant, can be a real asshole, ruthless with his words the cockiest person known to man. Horrible temper, cruel, an amazingly talented tennis player but needs to work on his fitness. Making a steady rise in the senior circuit. Oldest of five from a very tight knit family, controlled by his overbearing parents. Controversy follows him and his excessively involved parents whom he needs to break away from. Very good looking, short brown hair, very tanned, almost no lips, small brown eyes. Thinks he’s god’s gift to women and considers himself to be a ladies’ man. However, he was taken out of school at a very young age (around 13) to focus more strongly on his tennis and therefore doesn’t have many friends and is very naive around girls. Speaks his mind, doesn’t think about the consequences of his actions. Is seen by others as a spoilt brat. Gets what he wants, wants to be number one in the world and is sure he will get there.
Character 5: Minor
Austrian, 17yo, the joker, the prankster both on and off the court, loves his sport especially his soccer and his main aim in life is to have fun. Is a daredevil and will never back out of a dare. The socialite of the tour and somehow manages to know absolutely everyone, everyone loves him. On court he is exactly the same, a fair and honest competitor who does not stop mucking around, tennis matches are just as much of a comedy act and they are a competitive match. His fun loving and optimistic attitude ensure that he always comes out on top. Sometimes doesn’t know when to stop joking and be serious (comes out when he makes a joke about character 2s career ending injury). Blonde hair, muscular, strong jaw line, great body, blue eyes, pale.
Character 6: Minor
16 yo, American, amazingly smart perso
Character 6: Minor
16 yo, American, amazingly smart person on and off the court. Game style is more about court craft and shot selection rather than power and spin. An introvert and is by far the most mature and responsible of the group. Tries to keep the wilder ones from doing anything stupid but is often unsuccessful. Humble and shy he always tries his best but comes across too relaxed on court because he doesn’t have the explosive game and temper which the others possess. Average height, tanned short dark blond hair, thin, brown eyes, one which has a muscle twitch.
last names would be great too!
